What You’ll Do
The Alumni Engagement & 40th Anniversary Coordinator will help design and carry out a year-long effort to reconnect alumni, strengthen relationships, gather stories, and create meaningful opportunities for former campers, staff, families and community members to engage with CCRC and with one another.
Alumni Outreach & Engagement
- Help identify and reconnect with former campers, staff, families, and other members of the Capital Camps community
- Develop creative outreach strategies to reach alumni across generations
- Build relationships with alumni and help identify individuals interested in becoming more involved with CCRC
- Conduct personalized outreach through email, phone, social media, and other channels
- Help develop and manage social media groups, online communities, email lists, and other platforms that give alumni ongoing opportunities to connect with CCRC and with one another
- Explore new tools and platforms that can strengthen alumni networking, communication, and community-building
- Recruit and coordinate alumni volunteers and ambassadors
- Create opportunities for alumni to reconnect with one another and with current camp life
- Track outreach, responses, interests, and engagement in partnership with the philanthropy team
40th Anniversary Planning & Programming
- Help coordinate CCRC’s 40th anniversary initiatives and events taking place through the end of 2027
- Maintain project plans, timelines, calendars, and follow-up for anniversary activities
- Work with the philanthropy team to develop meaningful opportunities to celebrate CCRC’s history and community
- Help organize alumni gatherings, reunions, virtual programs, community events, and anniversary experiences
- Coordinate invitations, registration, communications, volunteers, logistics, and post-event follow-up
- Support special anniversary programming during the summer season
- Help identify alumni stories, milestones, traditions, photos, and memories that bring Capital Camps’ history to life
Alumni Communications & Storytelling
- Help draft alumni emails, newsletters, invitations, surveys, updates, and other communications
- Work with the marketing team to develop alumni-focused digital and social media content
- Help collect stories, photographs, memories, and reflections from across CCRC’s history
- Conduct alumni interviews and help identify compelling stories for anniversary communications
- Help develop content that celebrates CCRC’s past while inviting alumni to be part of its future
Community Building & Volunteer Engagement
- Support alumni-led gatherings and engagement opportunities
- Work with the philanthropy team to identify alumni interested in supporting CCRC through volunteerism, leadership, or philanthropy
- Help establish systems and traditions that can support a stronger long-term alumni program after the anniversary year concludes
Collaboration
- Work closely with CCRC’s executive, philanthropy, marketing, and camp teams
- Coordinate with the Philanthropy Operations & Campaign Associate on alumni data, lists, tracking, and reporting
- Bring creativity, enthusiasm, and new ideas to how CCRC connects and engages generations across its community

Qualifications

Work Environment & Schedule

Position Overview
Capital Camps is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Care Manager. This role will help foster inclusive and supportive environments within its vibrant Jewish community, where children and staff can thrive emotionally, socially, and physically. It offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of campers and the broader Jewish community.
This position offers a blend of direct care, strategic planning, family partnership, staff supervision, and organizational leadership. The Community Care Manager will have the opportunity to help design systems, coach staff, strengthen inclusion practices, and contribute meaningfully to the long-term growth of Capital Camps’ community care model.
Pre-Camp Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with families to integrate camper needs into the planning process, ensuring a holistic approach that incorporates both physical and mental health support within the camp environment.
- Design and implement individualized support plans for campers requiring additional care, ensuring a seamless transition into the camp environment.
- Develop and update camper and staff intake forms, including medical forms, camper profiles, and staff applications.
- Review camper and staff files thoroughly before camp begins, collaborating with parents, medical professionals, and therapists as needed to address individual needs.
- Collaborate with the Atzma’im (inclusion program) Coordinator on camper intake and the placement of Atzma’im staff and supports.
- Collaborate with the Medical Committee and Health Center staff to integrate the latest health trends and standards of care, ensuring that the camp’s approach remains up-to-date and effective in addressing campers’ physical and mental health needs.
- Serve as the point person for recruiting, hiring, supporting, and onboarding Health Center staff during both the hiring process, and procuring necessary supplies for Health Center operations
- Review and reflect on feedback from parents, staff, and campers from previous summers to
identify areas of improvement and integrate insights into planning processes for enhanced camp experiences.
• Lead and organize pre-camp staff training sessions, equipping seasonal Yoetzot (licensed social workers, therapists, clinical psychologists, school guidance counselors, and seasoned educators) and other team members with tools and strategies in areas such as:
• Fostering positive social interactions
• Managing challenging behaviors and interpersonal conflicts
• Supporting campers with diverse needs
• Homesickness prevention and response
• Encouraging self-care for staff
In-Camp Responsibilities (Full-Time, Residential)
- Reside on-site at Capital Camps during the summer season to provide hands-on, real-time support to campers and staff.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for social, emotional, and mental health matters, effectively coordinating care and interventions as needed.
- Supervise the Atzma’im Coordinator in implementing ongoing strategies for campers who receive Atzma’im support.
- Supervise the seasonal Yoetzot team, ensuring that their work aligns with the camp’s mission and the needs of the community.
- Conduct ongoing staff training and provide resources to manage evolving challenges and promote a positive camp culture.
- Take an active leadership role in elevating the well-being of seasonal summer staff, partnering with the Year-Round and summer Leadership Team to advance initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director and medical team to holistically address camper and staff well-being.
- Oversee all aspects of Health Center operations, supervising the lead Health Center staff in training, operations, integration into the camp environment, and guaranteeing the team operates efficiently and delivers exceptional care.
Qualifications
- A licensed professional with a background in social work, psychology, counseling, or education (LCSW, LPC, or equivalent preferred).
- Experience working with children and adolescents, particularly in a camp, school, or similar setting.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A passion for nurturing and supporting the social, emotional, and mental health of youth and staff.
Additional Information:
- Summer worksite is in Waynesboro, PA.

Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time salary: $70,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience. For part-time employees, compensation will be prorated based on the agreed-upon schedule and hours worked.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Philanthropy & Campaign Strategy
- Partner with the CEO to develop and implement CCRC’s annual fundraising strategy, priorities, goals, and measures of success
- Develop an annual campaign that integrates fundraising appeals, renewals, stewardship, donor communications, special campaigns, events, and engagement initiatives
- Lead multichannel fundraising campaign strategy and planning across email, direct mail, digital, social media, peer-to-peer, and other platforms
- Analyze fundraising and campaign performance, identify trends and opportunities, and use results to strengthen future strategy
- Identify opportunities to acquire, retain, renew, upgrade, and reactivate donors and expand CCRC’s philanthropic community
- Oversee the philanthropy operations and marketing associates to ensure campaign data, tracking, reporting, and follow-up support strategic decision-making
- Prepare fundraising reports, campaign updates, and actionable information to support the CEO, Development Committee, and Board members
- Bring current fundraising, direct-response, digital engagement, and nonprofit campaign best practices to CCRC’s development program
Philanthropy Communications & Content Strategy
- Lead development communications strategy, planning, and coordination in support of fundraising, stewardship, and engagement goals
- Oversee CCRC’s annual and current development impact reports, working across the organization to identify the stories, visuals, and statistics that best demonstrate impact
- Establish key messages and communication priorities for fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, special initiatives, and other development efforts
- Create CEO and Board materials, including donor correspondence, talking points, presentations, campaign updates, and other communications that support fundraising and engagement
- Maintain high standards for voice, tone, accuracy, consistency, and audience relevance across development communications
Donor Strategy & Stewardship
- Design a year-round donor stewardship strategy, including timely, personalized communications that help donors understand their impact and deepen their relationship with CCRC
- Participate in select donor meetings and relationship-building opportunities
- Plan and steward donor visits during the summer camp season
- Create and oversee donor and alumni stewardship events throughout the year
- Support the Legacy Donor program through communications, stewardship initiatives, events, and engagement strategy
Board & Volunteer Leadership
- Partner with the CEO, Board Chair, and Development Committee leadership to set campaign strategy, priorities, and goals
- Serve as the lead staff for the Development Committee of the Board

- Oversee the department budget, planning calendar, goals, dashboards, and progress reporting

- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership on philanthropy, communications, engagement, and organizational positioning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field is a plus
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, digital marketing, campaign strategy, advancement, or related work
- Demonstrated success planning and executing fundraising or engagement campaigns
- Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and storytelling skills
- Strong understanding of fundraising strategy and donor stewardship
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, timelines, and deadlines
