The counselors that I have had that I looked up to the most are the ones who made me feel confident in myself and who cared and appreciated me for who I am and that’s what I want to show my campers. I want them to know that it’s ok to be yourself and not to care what other people think about you and to grow and be your own person. That is what happens at camp.
My favorite memories from camp are the one that happen on the spot, the spontaneous fun! I remember having a dance party when we were stuck in our cabins during a rainstorm. It’s the small things like that you will remember forever.

Camp is my second home and I couldn’t imagine spending my summers anywhere else. Camp has given me so many unique opportunities over the years, from conquering my fear of heights on the ropes course, to expressing my Judaism on Shabbat.

My favorite times as a counselor are those when I am hanging out with the campers during downtime. When I was a camper, I remember how much I loved when my counselors took a genuine interest in me and spent quality time getting to know me.

Working as a lifeguard is my favorite part of being at camp. From teaching swim lessons to leading chugim such as water polo, to getting close with the rest of the team, I love every moment. I return to camp for my campers, and to see everyone’s smiles as they splash into the pool!

Music, and particularly Jewish music, is so important to me at camp because it has been through this music that I have discovered and developed my own Jewish identity. As a songleader, I love that I now have the ability and responsibility to encourage this love for Jewish music in my campers.

It has been a truly transformative experience not only to have been an LIT and CIT myself, but also to have the opportunity to return the favor. Watching the CITs, many of whom were my former campers, train to become staff has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

My favorite part about being a returning staff member from England is seeing the same campers grow year after year. Capital Camps is my home away from home and I love coming back to see my second family.

My favorite part about being an arts specialist is hearing campers’ imaginative ideas and watching their ideas turn into tangible masterpieces.
