In the face of the COVID-19 emergency, Capital Camps & Retreat Center experienced our most challenging year. COVID restricted our ability to open camp for summer 2020 and forced the closure of our retreat operations, resulting in 95% reduction in expected 2020 revenue.
We acted swiftly & strongly; taking the necessary steps through the crisis to cross the bridge to survival. Through careful planning, expenses were reduced. Tremendous response was received from our camp parents, major Jewish foundations and the community totaling $2.5 million. Our needs have yet to be fully met, but we feel confident they can be with your participation.
Now, we need your support to continue planning for our reopening of camp and retreating in 2021. The after effects of COVID in 2020 will still impact CCRC in 2021 due to reduced camper capacity, extensive rollover tuition for summer 2021, delayed reopening of the retreat center; layer on the necessary COVID expenses to operate in our new era, CCRC still has a long path toward financial stability. We are ready for this challenge because our campers and staff need camp in summer 2021.
Together, we go from strength to strength.
Please act today, make your Annual Campaign gift to ensure we are ready for summer 2021.
