Daily Newsletter – A Great Start!

Dear Friends of Capital Camps,

Yesterday was a great first day at Yotair! We are so excited your campers arrived. They collectively had a fantastic start to what I hope will be a long and successful Capital Camps journey. Here’s what I saw yesterday:

As the busses, vans, and cars pulled in to our gates, our enthusiastic staff memberswelcomed the campers with energy and excitement, while singing our Capital Camps welcome song. Then, after dropping off their luggage, our campers met their counselors and played some icebreakers and energizers to get to know one another. The laughter and smiles were indicators that the beginnings of a strong community were already underway.

After our traditional opening day lunch, pizza bagels, we jumped straight into activities all over camp. Campers swam in the pool, played sports, danced to our summer camp song, made arts and crafts, and even zipped at the ropes course! I was more than pleasantly surprised that this could be these campers’ first day, and it felt as though they had been here for weeks.

After an afternoon full of activities and some time for clean-up and showering, we gathered for another opening day meal tradition: chicken nuggets!. At our first evening program together, each cabin created a banner and a cheer and presented it to the whole camp. Their ruach (spirit) filled Habimah, our theater, and it was fantastic to see each cabin already forming as a family.

As you can probably tell, we pack each day with plenty of programming to keep our Yotair campers smiling and having fun. I am so excited to continue on this journey with our Yotair community today!
